I have decided to make the rest of my seedlings available to interested in persons in a very unique way.
All 28 of these seedlings have special attributes and if I had discovered any one of them I would not have hesitated to introduce it as a new cultivar. However, since I had 28 to pick from, I had to narrow it down to a maximum of six introductions.
The remaining plants are too good to just forget. I am offering them for sale in a special way:
The purchaser takes ownership of the original seedling (now 9 years old) and may remove the original plant as long as he/she can pick it up by fall, 2011. We will not ship the plant. Keep in mind that our soil is very rocky so we cannot guarantee survivability but the plant would be root pruned this fall or winter. If it is not removed, it will have a home here as long as we own this property.
I will graft twenty plants for the purchaser of each original seedling and ship them in the fall or following spring as part of the sale price (retail value $50 each). These grafts will be potted into 4" pots when they are removed from the greenhouse. Additional grafts would be available at a special price to the purchaser.
The purchaser may put any name he/she likes onto the plant and I will register it with the international plant registration society (RHS). I will also publish the name on this web site with an official description.
We will not propagate or sell propagations from the original plant if it is not removed from our property. Likewise we will not be responsible if the plant dies for any reason whatsoever after we have shipped the twenty grafts mentioned above.
Most conifer collectors never have an opportunity to name a new plant with garden merit. We are giving you that opportunity. You can name your plant after a family member or yourself. You can give the grafts to family members and friends. You can market it for sale. You can purchase additional plants beyond the twenty original ones.
The cost of this package is $1000.00 plus the shipping fee for the grafts via U.S. Priority Mail. (There are a few packages with plants already propagated that are slightly higher.)
