Coenosium Gardens is a retail nursery oriented toward the collector of rare and unusual plants, with an emphasis on conifers. The term, Coenosium, is an old Greek word meaning plant community. It was selected because it is a very distinctive name and would be immediately associated with our very special nursery. Many of our customers find it a difficult name to pronounce, but they all know who we are.
Plants are listed in alphabetical order by genus, species, and cultivar using correct botanical nomenclature.
Plant descriptions are concise and reflect our experience and knowledge of each cultivar that we offer.
The number in parenthesis after each description is the U.S. hardiness zone for each plant.
ORDERING
All prices stated in this catalog are for the plant size listed and void any previously listed prices.
Some cultivars will sell out early due to limited availability or high demand, especially if the selection is a new offering. A substitution list may be included and will be consulted, if necessary.
Minimum plant order is $50.00, excluding packing/shipping charges, and must be paid by check or money order. No credit cards are accepted.
When an order is placed, a confirmation will be sent with a deposit request needed to secure the order. A 50% minimum deposit is required for all new customers. All orders will be based on current catalog prices. No deposit reminders will be sent.
If the required deposit is not sent, the order will be canceled and the plants returned to inventory.
SHIPPING
Most Coenosium Gardens orders will be shipped between April 14 and May 26. One early spring ship date of March 31 will also be offered.
Plants can be Fall shipped from September 29 to October 27. Customers should check the appropriate box on the order form.
All of the plants are sent in their pots via United States Priority Mail and usually arrive in three to five days. United Parcel Service is available but is considerably more expensive. Contact us if you wish UPS delivery information.
We will not ship plants during the months of January, February, July, August, and December.
We regret that we will no longer ship to Canada or other foreign countries. We have many good customers and long time friends in these places but have made this decision for reasons beyond our control.
Shipping charges will be billed at cost (rounded off to the next higher dollar amount) plus $1.00 per plant for packing. The minimum packing fee is $5.00. The maximim packing fee is $50.00 per order.
All invoices are payable upon receipt. A $10.00 late fee will be assessed on all overdue accounts.
All plants are guaranteed to leave Coenosium Gardens in good condition, but their survival cannot be guaranteed once they leave the nursery, as the environment can no longer be controlled by us. If any plants arrive in poor condition, notify us immediately in writing; otherwise we will assume that there is no problem with the order.
NURSERY VISITATIONS
Coenosium Gardens is basically a mail order retail nursery. This is our hobby so we do not have regular business hours. Visitors are always welcome, but we do request that you call in advance or email and arrange an appointment. We can provide directions and can make sure we are available for your visit.
