Abies Koreana 'Gelbunt'/Abies koreana 'Aurea' Experimentation
In 2000 I germinated my first seedlings from Abies koreana 'Horstmanns Silberlocke'. They were so easy to do that I got an idea of cross pollinating Abies cultivars to see what developed. I tried all kinds of combinations which have provided me with several thousand seedlings (future understocks). Nothing unusual showed up until I played with Abies koreana 'Aurea' and Abies koreana 'Gelbunt'.
I have set aside an assortment of variegated Abies koreana seedlings to watch. It will be interesting to see if I find an improvement over 'Gelbunt.
