THE HOUSE ROCK GARDEN
When a terrace was cut into our property for the placement of our house in 1994, we had the Cat leave a steep slope behind the house to use as a rock garden. The plants were all placed directly into the subsoil of the slope with no amendments added to the planting holes. The glacial till provided the rocks and we provided the plants.
In 2001 we redid the rock garden with feather rock (pumice) boulders, disturbing the plants as little as possible. A few of the plants outgrew their locations and were removed, but the majority of plants are still growing where they were originally placed.
